On the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, I was watching the TODAY SHOW while waiting for my parents to come and visit me. The day before, Mom called me to let me know she and Daddy were coming down here from their home in Big Spring to visit me the next day.
I usually slept until 12PM back then. But I got up early so I'd be ready to let Mom and Daddy into my apartment. As I was eating a bowl of cereal and watching TODAY SHOW, Matt Lauer broke in live for a news report that one of the twin towers of the World Trade Center had been rammed into by an airplane. Live footage was shown of smoke coming from the WTC tower. While he was on live, another plane hit the other twin tower. I then knew this was no accident.
My parents have both since passed away. Daddy passed away in March 2004, Mom on June 19, 2011.
Life in the United States before 9/11 may have been neither normal nor perfect. But then again, there is no such thing as normal. And perfection is mighty hard to grasp a hold of.
