William Leonard Woodward, Sr.

William Leonard Woodward, Sr., “Woody” passed away on June 14, just before midnight. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 15, 1931 and was named after the Sweet William flowers that bloomed outside of his home.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Francis Mary Woodward (born Brunner); his father Harry Woodward; brothers Ernest, John, Danny and Ralph; and sisters Flora, Mable and Fanny.
He is survived by his brother David and sister Harriet; seven biological children, Lenny, Sherry, Teresa, Karen, Mike, Gail and Art as well as his adopted daughter, Melissa. Mr. Woodward also has 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Woody was a good Christian man who was proud of his family and had a big heart for animals. He rescued and cared for abandoned pets his entire life. He loved music, playing the piano and accordion. He also enjoyed fishing especially at Lake Sweetwater (where he had lived since the late 70s).
A private viewing took place on June 16, 2013 at McCoy Funeral Home and a graveside service was held at the City of Sweetwater Cemetery where he was laid to rest. Services were under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the humane society of Sweetwater.
