Funeral services for Willie Hardy “Bill” Carey, 101, of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. James Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Carey died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.
He was born June 25, 1910, in Weatherford, Texas. Bill was a farmer and rancher and had lived in Nolan and Mitchell Counties all his life. He attended the Church of Christ in Roscoe.
Survivors include his son, Austin Carey and wife, Lillian of Austin, TX; one sister, Faye Tumlinson of Sweetwater; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; step daughter, Betty Lou Allen of Reno, NV; numerous step grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Hattie Carey; wives, Annie Mae Barton Carey and Clairene Conner Carey; two sisters; six brothers; and a step son.
Pallbearers will be Calvin Carey, Eric Conner, Anthony Tidbit, Robert Walker, Lit Adams and Marvin Ray Adams, Jr.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Luther Martin.
