Willie Herman Hackfeld, age 83, of Sweetwater, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2011, at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.Â
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March l4, 2011, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Earl Stewart officiating.Â Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2011, at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, Texas with Bill Johnston officiating.Â Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.Â
Willie was born July 11, 1927 in Roscoe, Texas to Otto and Emma Hackfeld.Â He worked as a supply warehouse foreman for ADM for many years and Abilene Lumber Company.Â He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.Â He married Ila Rhea Harris in March, 1970.Â She preceded him in death on April 7, 1996.Â He married Kathleen Hopper Bessent in January, 2003.Â
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Hopper Bessent Hackfeld of Sweetwater; three step sons, Robert Harris and wife SandraÂ of Abilene, Ricky Bessent and wife Rhonda of Lubbock and Jimmy Bessent of Lubbock;Â threeÂ step daughters, Cheryl Henshaw and husband Randy of Sweetwater, Debra Bradley and husband John of Mesquite and Shirley Hammond and husband Darrell of Arlington; several grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alma Green and Berniece Patterson, bothÂ of Sweetwater; one brother, Victor Hackfeld of Richardson; andÂ several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Emma Hackfeld; and first wife, Ila Rhea Hackfeld.Â
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Whittaker, Ronnie Williams, Brad Hackfeld, David Green, Robert Harris, Randy Henshaw, Jack Aycock and Orville Brown.Â
Family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 13, 2011, from 2-4 p.m.
