AP high school football poll

Abilene Wylie replaced Argyle as the No. 7-ranked team in Class 3A in this week’s Associated Press high school football poll following a 31-14 win over the Eagles on Friday.
Wylie — unranked in the AP preseason poll — jumped ahead of preseason No. 1 Stephenville, which lost to Monterrey (Mex.) Tech 27-17 in its opener and fell seven places down to No. 8. Argyle dropped out of this week’s top 10 in 3A.
Monahans, after receiv-ing enough votes to earn a No. 14 ranking in the Class 3A preseason poll, received none this time after losing to Midland Christian 42-28 in its season opener.
Snyder also lost, 70-57, to Amarillo Caprock in a high-scoring first game, leaving Sweetwater (23-13 over Eastland), Big Spring (49-0 over Fort Stockton) and Midland Greenwood (40-0 over Kermit) as the three winners in District 4-3A.
