Wylie sweeps S’water

Needing a win for a shot at the playoffs, Sweetwater’s volleyball team instead saw its season end here Tues-day as Wylie came to Mus-tang Gym and swept away the Lady Mustangs in three games 25-13, 25-20, 25-18.
Wylie, the district cham-pion, is 8-0 and 35-6 overall while Sweetwater ends its year at 3-5, 19-19. Despite the loss, coach Liz Miller said her team made significant progress this season. “This was a very good group to work with,” she said, “and we have a lot to look forward to next year.”
Sweetwater finished be-hind Big Spring (5-3) and Brownwood (4-4), the dis-trict’s No. 2 and 3 seeds.
Kathleen Campbell, Shel-by Cason and Kendra Cros-son each had five kills, while Kinsey Browning, Suede Shirley and Alicia Finn had five digs and Cason and Crosson four. In addition, Shirley and Finn had six assists. Larissa Locklar and Kelsi Crosson had two kills.
