Homer and Patsy Grimes of Sweetwater are back home and on the long road to recovery after they each sustained serious injuries in a recent motorcycle accident that happened near Las Cruces, N.M. Patsy’s sister, Frances Mulanax of Sweetwater, said the Grimes couple was traveling together on a single motorcycle driven by Homer and headed to Ruidoso, N.M. at the time of the accident when Homer slid on loose gravel and lost control of the motorcycle.
The couple then tumbled approximately 20 feet down an embankment covered with large rocks before finally coming to a stop. Homer, the more seriously injured of the two, was air lifted to El Paso and Patsy was taken by ambulance to Alomogordo, N.M. Family members say Homer suffered five broken ribs and a contusion, and that he and Patty both had major abrasions to their arms and legs. They said neither was wearing helmets at the time of the accident. Family members are helping care for the Grimes while they recuperate. |
