Leadership Sweetwater class graduates

This year's Leadership Sweetwater participants graduated with a dinner and ceremony at Texas State Technical College. "CHAOS" kicks off June 3 at 4th and Elm Church of Christ

For the fourth year, 4th and Elm Church of Christ is ready to dive into some "CHAOS" this summer.
Starting on June 3, the local church will hold its summertime children's program each Wednesday night from 7 p.m. until 8:15 p.m., in a format similar to Vacation Bible School (VBS).

Sweetwater Life Magazine to host Chamber Coffee

The June Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce coffee event will be hosted by Sweetwater Life Magazine at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3. The coffee will take place at Microtel Inn and Suites, located at 9416 North I-20.

Stacie Rená to perform as opening act at second Nolan County Fair

One of the opening acts for country music duo Thompson Square at this year's Nolan County Fair, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Nolan County Coliseum, will be local artist Stacie Rená, a young woman who has a passion for singing. She loves to express herself through music.

NCF awards scholarships to local graduates

Due to excellent support, both in sponsors and in having 105 players participate in the annual Nolan County Foundation (NCF) Golf Classic for Scholarships held on April 18 at the Sweetwater Country Club, the NCF announced awards to spring graduates from Blackwell High School, Highland High School, Roscoe High School and Sweetwater High School.

SHS DECA students receive Emerging Leader Honor Award

Valeria Zavaleta, Casey Whoolery-Pratt, Madison Jones, Caroline Brennan, Jeremy Witt, Abby  McPherson and Blake Cumbie, seniors at Sweetwater High School, each received the 2015 DECA Emerging Leader Honor Award. This award recognizes students studying marketing, finance, hospitality and management for being academically prepared, community-oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders through participation in DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America).

Update on hospital construction given at board meeting

May 30, 2015

Ron Blackwell with McKinstry, the senior construction manager for the projects taking place at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital (RPMH), was in attendance at Monday night's meeting of the Nolan County Hospital District to give an update on the ongoing work.
Most of the roof has been installed over the labor and delivery wing, with masonry work expected to follow. With the MRI expansion, exterior walls have been installed with work on the roof scheduled next, and demolition has begun on the entryway as well as interior work.

KXOX to host 34th Annual Country Showdown June 6

Anticipation and excitement is higher than ever as aspiring country music artists prepare for the 34th Annual Country Showdown at The Lumberyard in Roscoe on Saturday, June 6. KXOX will host America's largest country music talent search and radio promotion, sponsored by KXOX and The Lumberyard.
One of the judges for this year's competition will include 2014's National Winner Crystal Yates.
