Roscoe, Highland boys get victories

The Highland and Roscoe boys got non-district wins on Friday while Roscoe’s girls lost their district game.
The Roscoe boys edged Winters 61-58 despite being outscored 23-10 in the final period. The Plowboys led 25-10 after one quarter, 36-19 at halftime and 51-35 after three periods of play.
Roscoe was led by Brandon Lavalais, who scored 14 points, while Jose Ortega had 13 and Caleb Gray 10. Ortega and Gray combined for five of the team’s six 3-pointers.
The Highland boys, meanwhile, crushed Trent 57-10 as Nolan Montgomery (14 points) led the way. The Hornets also got nine points from Jordan Johns and they led 15-2, 24-4 and 41-6 at the breaks.
The Roscoe girls lost their district game to Anson by a score of 43-24 to fall to 0-2.
Roscoe was led Kinzie Buchanan’s eight points.
The Highland girls and Blackwell boys and girls also played Friday. Results from their games were unavailable at press time today.
