Earl Lavoy “Lefty” Howell

Earl Lavoy “Lefty” Howell, 81, born Sept. 18, 1933, in Dickens County, passed away on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 at the Kent County Nursing Home.
Lefty was the son of Hubert and Lois Howell and graduated from Patton Springs High School in 1950. He was a cowboy most of his life and worked on various ranches and feed lots throughout Texas. He was also proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956.
As a man of God, his strong faith led him to become an active member in his local church. Lefty was a dedicated family man and friend who inspired everyone he came in contact with.

Robert Lee Duckworth

Robert Lee Duckworth, age 81, of Sweetwater, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014 at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.
His body will be cremated. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014 at Sweetwater Cemetery with Rev. Matt McGowen officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Our cowboy rides away. The Lord called John D. Regino home into his kingdom on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014.
A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Juanita Luera.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014 at Holy Spirit Parish (Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church) with Rev. Charles Okonkwo officiating. Burial will follow at Blackwell Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Dorothy L. Young

Funeral services for Dorothy L. Young, 71, of Sweetwater, will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at Lamar Street Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Young died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at her home.

Elvira Carrion Cantu

Elvira Carrion Cantu, 68, of Sweetwater, has gone to be with the Lord. Vera, as she was known, passed away at Hendrick Medical Center of Abilene on Sunday afternoon after a lengthy illness. Local arrangements were handled by Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street in Abilene, Texas and a Memorial Service to honor her will be at Lighthouse Assembly of God in Sweetwater, Texas at a later date.

Donald Wayne Thomas

Funeral services for Donald Wayne Thomas, 70, of Sweetwater, will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Mike Crowley officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
He died on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014 at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.

ROBY — Gordon Barron Wetsel, 61, passed away Oct. 15, 2014, at his home in Roby. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church of Roby, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 2-2:45 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church of Roby.

Mildred Faye Egly, age 92, of Sweetwater, passed away on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014 at Nolan Nursing and Rehab.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014 at Garden of Memories with Pastor Jimmy Bennett officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014 at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m.

Thomas Hunter Miller

Thomas Hunter Miller went to be with Jesus on Oct. 7, 2014. Hunter completed the Miller family on Feb. 26, 1998, bringing his special light and laughter to everyone he met. Hunter attended St. John’s Episcopal School, Bonham Jr. High School and Permian High School.
A natural athlete, Hunter enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing – as long as he did not have to touch the fish – baseball, soccer, basketball and football. But after his first ice hockey lesson at 22 months, his life-long passion for the sport began.
