Lendon Melvin White, 78, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at Gulf Health Care Center in Galveston.
He was born March 20, 1935, son of Deanie Hill Cope and Orvile White in Marlow, Okla. Lendon was raised in Midland and served in the US Air Force as part of the Canine Corps during the Korean War. Lendon married Kay Maberry in Hobbs, N.M. He worked as a drilling fluids engineer and a PGA Class A Golf Pro for three courses in Texas and Florida. He was also a retired sports broker.
Lendon is survived by his wife of 54 years, Darla Kaye White; son, Mark Lendon White; daughter, Rinda Kaye French and husband, Jerry; sister, Mary Louise Elkins; brother-in-law, Stephen Allan Runyard; granddaughters, Whitney Kaye Burnett and Chelsea Nicole Ruiz and husband, Mario; and great-granddaughter, Rylee Kaye Ruiz.
Lendon’s family will receive visitors beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home in Galveston. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home led by Rev. Meredith Holt.
