Hamlin Mayor Isaac Castro spoke at the meeting of the Abilene Tea Party on Oct. 22. He stated that it was mainly an opportunity to introduce himself and make the Party aware of his background. He said that he shares common philosophies with the Tea Party and he welcomes the Party's endorsement and support. He has made it known that he will speak to any club or organization that invites him.
Mayor Castro made known his stance on some issues. He is for term limits for federal and state politicians. He stated that he will fight against big government and limit the growth of government and the cost of government. He is a believer in local control with minimum interference from state or federal government.
Mayor Castro is pro-life and is a fiscal and social conservative. He plans on meeting with and addressing the Republican Women's Club of Abilene and Sweetwater and the Pachyderm Club, as well as various business groups.
