One person was killed and one injured in a one vehicle rollover crash occurring at around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010. The crash was one mile North of County Road 145 on County Road 147 in Nolan County.
A 2007 Nissan Frontier pickup, driven by Louis Dakota-Chance Green, 19, of Sweetwater, was traveling North on County Road 147. As the vehicle approached a steep dip in the roadway, Green lost control of the vehicle. The passenger, Hilton Dean Goff, 18, of Iraan, was ejected during the rollover.
According to Sweetwater emergency officials, the driver of the vehicle seemed to be going too fast on what is known as "roller coaster road" when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed. The road goes from Highland to Lake Trammell. Emergency officials stated that the driver of the vehicle walked a mile after the crash to help his friend who was ejected from the vehicle.
Goff was pronounced dead at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital at 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, by Doctor Keleen Moreno. His body was taken to Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa. He was not wearing a seat belt. Green was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He is listed in stable condition at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital. According to officials, the two were though to be wind energy program students at Texas State Technical College.
The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. Trooper William Wheat with the Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating this crash.
