Blackwell split a District 14-1A basketball doubleheader against Paint Rock on Tuesday.
The boys, who are 7-2 overall, began district with a 68-37 win. Matt Lowry had 25 points to pace the victo-ry. Mason Magness added 14, Jayden Jones 13, Ethan Andrews 12 and Wade Allen four. Blackwell led 24-19 at halftime, then turned it on by outscoring Paint Rock 44-18 in the second half.
The Blackwell girls (3-4, 1-2) were on the losing end Tuesday against Paint Rock as they were beaten 48-36. Halee Sanderson and Step-hanie Metcalf each had 11 points for Blackwell, while Hailey Bennett had eight points, Crystal Chavez four and Brooklyn Harris two.
Blackwell’s boys won their final game Saturday at the Menard tournament after losing their first two. However, Lowry was a scor-ing machine with 92 points in the three games.
Lowry scored 25 points in an opening 64-44 loss to San Saba and 27 in a 53-37 loss to Mason on Friday. But he saved his best for last, pouring in 40 points against Eldorado in a 56-47 win as Blackwell finished in seventh place.
