Colleen Leonor Bishop, age 85, of Snyder, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater, after a lengthy illness.
Services for Mrs. Bishop will be held on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home with her grandsons officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bishop was born on Oct. 21, 1928, in Scurry County to Jim Luen and Meda Bell (Sturgeon) Smith. She married Garland Bishop on April 27, 1947 in Snyder. Mr. Bishop preceded her in death in 2006.
Mrs. Bishop was a homemaker, active in school and sporting events of her sons. She loved the Lord, country music and dancing. After her children were grown, she drove the rural Clairmont mail route for 20 years, where she made many friends. She was a member of the Eastside Church of Christ.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Margaret (Fain) Bishop of Sweetwater; three grandsons, Brett Bishop and wife Jenna of San Antonio, Lance Bishop of Austin and Reid Bishop of Austin; one sister-in-law, Juanita Hester of Snyder; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sons, Clay Bishop and Wesley Bishop.
Memorials may be made to World Vision, The Children’s Home of Lubbock or the charity of one’s choice.
