It will be Big Spring vs. Sweetwater at both places, but high school basketball fans will have to choose which game to see in today’s District 4-3A action.
The girls game between Sweetwater and Big Spring at 8 p.m. in Colorado City will be a tiebreaker to de-termine the No. 4 playoff team. If Sweetwater wins, it will play Fabens on Tuesday in bi-district at Pecos.
Today’s game is necessa-ry because both teams lost Tuesday to first-place Wylie and second-place Green-wood, respectively. Snyder (5-5) is the No. 3 team after beating Monahans 58-31 on Tuesday. Sweetwater and Big Spring are both 4-6, and each won at home in their two previous 4-3A games.
District champion Wylie earned a first-round bye.
The boys game will be in Sweetwater at 7:30 today, and Sweetwater (2-6) will be eliminated from playoff consideration if it loses to Big Spring (5-3) and fourth-place Midland Greenwood (3-5) is also able to knock off second-place Monahans. Big Spring has clinched a playoff spot with two games left along with Wylie (8-0) and Monahans (6-2). Sweet-water goes to Midland Greenwood to play its final game of the regular season on Tuesday.
In 14-1A, the Blackwell boys (7-5) are still in the hunt for the No. 3 playoff berth despite losing 72-14 Tuesday to first-place Water Valley. Bronte (8-4) moved into third place by beating Sterling City 46-21. Black-well will entertain Veribest (4-8) today at 6:30 p.m.
