The big games aren’t here yet, but the Sweetwater girls basketball team is starting to get used to winning.
The Lady Mustangs picked up their fourth straight victory on Tuesday at Mustang Gym, pulling away in the second half to beat Lamesa 64-46 and improving their season record to 10-8.
The 64 points — 40 coming in the second half — were a season high for the team, which won its last three games at the Stanton tourney over the weekend for the consolation title.
Alicia Finn had 21 points to pace the Lady Mustangs, who held just a one-point advantage (24-23) over Lamesa at halftime. Sweet-water took control in the third period, outscoring the Golden Tornadoes 20-5 for a 44-28 lead, and led by at least 11 the rest of the way. Kinsey Browning hit a pair of 3s in the final 1:39 of the third quarter to spark an 8-0 flourish and finished with 14 points while Taylor McKoy had 13 for Sweetwa-ter, which hosts Ballinger this Friday.
