The girls regular season is over and the high school basketball playoffs are almost here. But so far, only one Nolan County team has secured a postseason berth. However, the Roscoe boys can join the Highland girls in the playoffs with a win tonight at Munday. Roscoe and Munday are currently tied for third place in District 9-A, Division I with 5-4 records. Tonight’s winner advances to the postseason. The game will end the regular season for both squads. In the first meeting between the teams, Roscoe won 54-46. The Plowboys are trying to make the playoffs for the first time since winning the Class 1A, Division I title in 2009.
While the Highland girls will be going to Stamford today for a Class 1A, Division II playoff warmup, the boys (3-7) are clinging to playoff hopes after last Friday’s 50-42 victory over Westbrook that kept them mathematically alive. Tonight, the Hornets must beat Hermleigh (5-5), then win at Roby (8-2) on Tuesday while Hermleigh loses, and they may need more help even if they do that.
