Funeral services for Jerland Fred Freeman, Sr., 82, of Roscoe, will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at Roscoe Church of Christ with Rian Freeman and Dan Boren officiating. Interment will follow at Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation was held from 5-6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories in Sweetwater.
Freeman died Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan, 21, 1929, in Trent. He married Elnor McLeod on Dec. 18, 1949, in Roscoe. He was a member of the Roscoe Church of Christ. He also owned and operated Freeman Trucking, Freeman Farms and was active with both until his death. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and served on various community boards. He had lived in Roscoe most of his life.
Survivors include Elnor Freeman of Roscoe; daughters, Pat Hagerman and husband Steve of Sweetwater and Jeanetta Monday and husband Douglas of Shelbyville, Indiana; sons, Don Freeman and wife Carol of Abilene and Steve Freeman and wife Jani of Breckenridge; brother, J.T. Freeman of Lubbock; sisters, Joyce Buckner of Sweetwater, Maretha Kelley of Abilene, Melba Marth of Roscoe and Billye Sessions of Kemp; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Roy Freeman and Lula Mae Freeman; a son, Freddy Freeman; a daughter, Terri Teltschik; and a brother, Luther Ashford Freeman.
Pallbearers will be Jason Freeman, Jake Freeman, Colby Freeman, Kirby Freeman, Chris Hagerman, Kyle Hagerman, Shelby Teltschik, Wesley Teltschik and Riley Teltschik.
