Lillian Maresh Martin, age 79, passed away Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater, Texas. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was born Oct. 9, 1931 in Ganado, Texas to I.E. “Ike” and Vlastie Maresh. She graduated high school from Central High School in San Angelo, and attended Angelo State where she met the love of her life Dale D. Martin. They were married July 24, 1952, at First Methodist Church in San Angelo.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband, Dale; a son, Mark Martin and wife Sheila of Sweetwater; two daughters, Kaye Rawlings and husband Leon of Abilene and Kim Lawrie and husband Jeff of Dallas. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Kristin, Courtney, and Caitlyn; four grandsons, Nicholas, Christopher, Jacob and Michael Lawrie; and two step grandchildren, John Rawlings and Heather Reyes. Also surviving her is her sister Kathleen Taylor and husband Lawrence of San Angelo, and brother-in-law Doyle Martin and wife Nell of Point Blank, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jerry Maresh; and two sisters, Edie Brenek and Pauline Penrod.
Mrs. Martin enjoyed traveling the world and seeing the U.S. in their R.V. She loved her home in Ruidoso.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the McCoy Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Ward Hayes officiating, under the care and direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
The family requests memorials be made to the City-County Library or the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Fund.
