Frankie Lee Toland, age 90, passed away at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater, Texas on March 13, 2011. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Dr. Cindy Cearley and Rev. Judy Hall officiating under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater. Interment will follow in Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Stephen Smith, Toland Smith, McC Smith, Zach Smith, Bo Compston and Paul Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Braxton Smith and Kyland Smith.
Frankie was born on December 7, 1920, in Capitola, Texas, and Married Barney C. Toland on September 29, 1937, in Fisher County, TX. She was a beautician for 50 years and owned and operated Frankie’s Beauty Shop in Sweetwater from 1972 until 1996, living in Sweetwater since 1972, and Big Spring from 1966 until 1972. She was the oldest of nine children and was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Fourth and Elm Church of Christ.
Survivors include daughter Jan Smith and husband Steve of Sweetwater, Texas; grandsons, Stephen Smith of Washington, D.C., Toland Smith and wife Kirstin of Sweetwater, McC Smith of Sweetwater and Zach Smith of Sweetwater; granddaughters, Kirbie Compston and husband Bo of Sweetwater and Callie Davis and husband Paul of Frisco, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Braxton and Kyland Smith and Foster Grace and Smith Elle Davis; six sisters, M.E. Waddell of Midland, Texas, Ann Cearley of Denver, Colorado, Margie Flint of Holdenville, Oklahoma, Betty Steele and husband Corkey of Sweetwater, Jane Collins of Centerville, Texas and
Wanda Jordan of Crockett, Texas; sister-in-law, Betty Kidd of Eastland, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her caregivers for the past three years, Benita Rodriguez and Viola Rivera.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney on February 8, 2009; and two brothers, Bennie “Butch” Kidd and John Kidd.
