Sweetwater High School’s JV boys track team scored 89 points for a third-place finish at Big Spring’s meet this past Friday.
Nick Nemir won the 110 hurdles (16.28) and the 300 hurdles (43.03), while Ryan Linebaugh won Sweetwater’s other first-place medal in the 100 dash (11.48). Sweetwater’s three relays, meanwhile, all had second-place finishes.
Nemir, Taylor Jones, Bobby Soto and Trey Taylor ran on the 400 relay (46.1) while Linebaugh, Soto, Jones and Alex Garcia ran on the 1600 relay (3:48.5) and Garcia, Jones, Soto and Taylor were the runners on the 800 relay (1:38.9).
Also placing for Sweet-water in individual events at Big Spring’s meet were Linebaugh, who was sixth in the 200 dash (25.97); Taylor, who was fifth in the 100 (11.91); Matt Kitchens, who was fifth in the 400 (57.63); and Kyle McSherry, who was third in the high jump (5-6). Sweetwater will have boys and girls teams competing at Hamlin’s Piper Relays this Saturday, with the Roscoe boys and girls also entered in the meet.
