The Sweetwater Fire Department responded to a fire on Musgrove Street on Tuesday. A storage unit, owned by a private owner, caught fire and sent flames and smoke high into the air, also causing a grass fire a block away on Neff Street. Due to a downed power line that was still "hot" firefighters had to use their ladder truck to extinguish the storage unit fire. The storage unit was near Pickrell Wrecker Service and the business sustained only minor damages. Everything that was in the storage unit — including a vehicle and a recreational vehicle — was destroyed by the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. According to Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant Madden, a firefighter was "overcome from the heat" and was taken to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital. He was treated and released.
