Thanks to community donations, the Aim for Success program will be presented to all SISD 6th – 12th grade students on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Sweetwater High School.
On Wednesday, May 11, at 6 p.m., Aim for Success will be presenting their powerful program, “Teens, Sex and Choices”, at a parents-only meeting. The parent presentation will be held in the Sweetwater Middle School Gym at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
This program will preview what the students will see the next day and provide parents with helpful hints about how and when to communicate with your children about sexual activity.
"Let’s face it, for most of us it is very difficult to talk to our kids about sex. However, if we learn to talk to our kids about sex, we will be able to talk with them about anything," said event organizers.
Come find out what the #1 STD is among American teenagers. It’s not AIDS, but it can be deadly. Learn why condoms do not prevent the spread of this disease.
Also, learn the one simple thing you can do as a parent to reduce your child’s risk of becoming sexually active by 36%, using drugs by 41% and attempting suicide by 71%.
This program will clearly demonstrate to students that saving sex for marriage provides freedom from pregnancies, STDs and regret while giving them the freedom to fulfill their dreams and goals.
All parents of the students who will be taking part in the program on Thursday are strongly urged to attend the parent meeting on Wednesday evening.
