Funeral services for Freddie Riggan, 76, of Troy, Texas and formerly of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Elwyn Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at White Church Cemetery in Mulberry Canyon, Taylor County, under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Riggan died Monday, June 6, 2011, in Temple.
She was born June 10, 1934, in Winters, Texas. She married Denzil Riggan on Feb. 12, 1954, in Abilene. She was a member of the Church of God in Sweetwater. Riggan worked at Sweetwater Middle School for 18 years in the cafeteria food service department. She had lived in Sweetwater since 1954, then moving to Troy, Texas in 2007. For the last 18 months, she lived in Temple at the Williams Courtney Veterans Care Center. She also loved music and dancing.
Survivors include two daughters, Angila Riggan and Ron Young of Waco and Cheryl Fausnacht and husband Keith of Troy; one sister, Flora King of Abilene; two brothers, Billy Wilson of Buffalo Gap and Don Wilson and wife Honey of Abilene; three grandchildren, Julienne Collier and husband Joel of Ballenger, Gena Greenwood and husband Chance of Snyder and Tanner Fausnacht of Troy; four great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Cayden, Caysen and Lexy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Denzil Riggan on Jan. 21, 2007.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, Donnie Riggan, Tim Riggan,, Ronnie Holmes, Danny Reel, Kenny Reel and Tony Gunn.
