The Third Annual df Ranch Triathlon took place on Sunday, June 5, from the Lake Sweetwater public boat ramp. The triathlon consisted of a 500m swim, 14 mile bike and a 5k run. This year there was a new addition to the race. It was labeled the Land Lovers division. This accommodated athletes who did not want to swim. A designated swimmer completed the swim for them, and then, the athlete will took off from transition and completed the race on the bike and the run side by side with the rest of the triathletes.
The df Ranch Triathlon was a success during its first two years, but due to conflicts with the Tour de Gap in Abilene, the race has changed dates. The event is now the first Sunday in June. The triathlon is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event produced by USA Triathlon certified race directors that raises money and awareness for the Alzheimer's Association.
The overall, second and third place male and female winners in each age group received medals. All participating athletes received a race t-shirt and all finishers received a unique gift.
