ROSCOE — Patricia Jean “Pat” Karonika was born Oct. 30, 1947, in Houston, Texas. She attended schools in LaGrange, Texas and Roscoe, Texas. She has been a resident of Abilene since 1967. She had worked for HEB for several years and served on the advisory board of the Betty Hardwick Center. She had been a participant of Special Olympics and received several trophies for bowling. She was attending Sears Senior Center and was a volunteer until a decline in her health.
Survivors include three sisters, Barbara Reed and husband Kenneth of Roscoe, Tonia Fowler of Lubbock, and Becky Bowen of San Angelo. two nephews, Scotty Reed and wife Tara of Corinth and Brad Bowen of San Angelo; three nieces, Jessica Adams of Lubbock, Jennifer Spicer of Lubbock and Julie Ward of Dallas. She has four great-nephews, Tripp and Brody Reed, Jonathan and Jace Adams; and four great-nieces, Biana Reed, Kaitlyn and Sterling Bowen and Ella Spicer.
Pat was preceded in death by her father, Frank Karonika in 2003; her mother, Florence Johnson in 2008; and her brother, Donald Johnson in 2010.
Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, from 6-7:30 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home in Roscoe. Graveside services are at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at Roscoe Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Payne officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Roscoe.
