Sweetwater and Blackwell are hosting a total of three high school football playoff games today.
In Class 1A, Division I, Seymour (8-2) plays New Deal (7-3) at 7:30 p.m. at Sweetwater’s Mustang Bowl while in Six-Man, Blackwell is hosting a doubleheader.
Sterling City (8-2) will take on Panther Creek (6-4) at 5:30 p.m., followed by Paint Rock (8-2) taking on Loraine (7-3) at 8 p.m. to complete the doubleheader.
Snyder and Brownwood both kicked off their playoff runs with double-digit vic-tories on Thursday.
Snyder defeated Graham, 35-19, in Abilene while Brownwood beat Bowie 49-13 in Breckenridge. Wylie plays Burkburnett to begin its playoff run at 7:30 p.m. today at Justin.
Lady Mustangs host Lake View today
Sweetwater’s three girls basketball teams host San Angelo Lake View starting at 5 p.m. today with freshman and JV contests. The varsities tip off at 6:30 p.m. at Mustang Gym. Sweetwater, under first-year coach Can-dice Wyatt, began its sea-son with a 40-30 home win over Highland on Tuesday. Kendra Crosson scored 10 points to pace the victory.
Highland, which received 10 points from Sierra Allen, will play host to Eula. Also today, the Blackwell girls will play host to Westbrook as they tip off their season.
Meanwhile, the Sweetwa-ter and Highland boys will begin their basketball sea-sons Tuesday against Haw-ley and Robert Lee, respec-tively, and the Blackwell boys start Nov. 18 at Ira.
Roscoe girl runs at state CC meet on Saturday
Roscoe’s Jacinda Morales competes at 11:40 a.m. Sat-urday at the Class 1A girls state cross country meet in Round Rock. She qualified with a sixth-place finish at the regional meet last weekend with a time of 12:37.24.
Morales also qualified with Roscoe’s team for the state cross country meet in 2010 as a junior.
