On Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, the Nolan County Commissioner’s Court officially set dates and times for five public information community meetings to be held throughout the County regarding the need for a new Nolan County Jail and Sheriff’s Office. The meetings will outline the need for a new facility and provide citizens the opportunity to receive information, ask questions and provide feedback regarding this important issue. All four County Commissioners, County Judge Tim Fambrough and Sheriff David Warren will attend the meetings to provide the information and respond to questions. The county jail has been overcrowded since 1999 and Nolan County has been housing prisoners out in other counties since January 2000, nearly 12 years. There are also a multitude of other issues plaguing the current facility located inside the Nolan County Courthouse.
Nolan County citizens are highly encouraged to attend at least one of these meetings and meetings have been scheduled at various locations throughout the county for the convenience of the citizens. A schedule of the meetings is shown below. All meetings are scheduled for 7 p.m.
• Monday, Nov. 28, at the Roscoe Community Center.
• Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Maryneal Community Center.
• Monday, Dec. 5, at the Nolan Community Center.
• Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Blackwell City Hall.
• Thursday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. at the Nolan County Coliseum Annex.
