Both of the Sweetwater Middle School girls’ White teams captured consolation titles at a Big Spring tourna-ment held recently.
The eighth grade White team lost to Seminole 14-7 before coming back to de-feat Andrews 16-13 and then beat Snyder 26-14 to win consolation.
Hanna Hayes, Peyton Moore and Alyssa Villanue-va had two points and Ash-ley Parker one vs. Seminole; Moore scored six points, Marisa Moncada five, Villa-nueva three and Ashley Bax two vs. Andrews; and in the consolation final against Snyder, Villanueva had 15, Parker six, Moncadad three and Bax two.
The seventh grade White team lost to Frenship 10-9 in its opener before coming back to beat Andrews 23-4 and then Terra Vista 33-12 to win consolation.
Jacinda Garcia had six, Sonya Sanchez two and Angel Hogan vs. Frenship; Garcia had six, Amber Smith five, Hogan and Jessica Jackson four and Sanchez and Bergan Travino two vs. Andrews; and Garcia had 15, Jackson six and Sanchez, Smith and Travino four against Terra Vista.
Roscoe’s JV girls (3-3) got past Baird’s JV girls 37-36 this past Tuesday. Olivia Saddler scored 11 points, Samantha Ortega six, Danielle Deen and Jese Pena five, Selena Perez and Olivia Rovig four and Shelby Brown two for the Plowgirls.
But Roscoe’s JV boys lost 29-20 to Baird’s JV boys in their game. Cutter Davila had 12 points to pace the Plowboys, while Chase Cathey and Kane Peavy added four points each for Roscoe.
Highland’s JV girls also lost to Albany’s JV, 44-15, last Tuesday. Kaylee Martin had seven, Schyler Kimbrell four and Mia Herrera and Tarin Weldy two.
On Nov. 28, Sweetwater’s eighth grade White girls won 46-20 vs. Big Spring while the seventh grade White girls lost 24-14. For the eighth grade, Villanueva had 13, Parker nine, Bax, Moncada and Moore six and Hayes, Alexis Martinez and Caroline Guelker two.
For the seventh grade, Trevino had six points and four players — Jackson, Hogan, Garcia and Sanchez — all scored two points against Big Spring.
