Roscoe swept Rotan in a basketball doubleheader on Friday as both teams won for the first time in District 9-A, Division I play.
The Roscoe boys are 1-1 after edging Rotan 33-32, following a 42-26 win by the girls (1-2) in the opener.
Roscoe’s Jesus Leanos had a team-high 19 points the boys led 10-6 after one period, 18-12 at halftime and 27-23 at the end of three quarters before holding off a late rally by Rotan. Dillon Freeman had six points, John Hermosillio four and Cutter Davilla and Keeston Ford two apiece.
Roscoe’s girls led Rotan 14-4, 21-13 and 32-17 at the quarter breaks in getting their first district win. Faith Boren paced the Plowgirls with 18 points while Jacinda Morales had nine, Lynnsi Moses five, Kendall Moses four and Sara Kingston, Torrey Willman and Natalie Anthony two. Morales had 10 steals and Kingston eight for the Plowgirls.
