Sheri's Texas Tattoo is starting the year off great as artists Sheri and Hunter have just returned from the 10th annual Star of Texas Tattoo Art Revival held last week in Austin.
Sheri Baugh, owner of Texas Tattoo located in Sweetwater, is very thankful that her clients go to the conventions and show their art. "We couldn't win without their participation," she said.
Sheri added three more trophies to her collection at this convention. The trophies are all unique and hand-made. The Willie Nelson portrait — tattooed on John Palmer of Sweetwater — has won six other awards and this time brought home second place in both the portrait and small black and gray categories. A West Texas sleeve — tattooed on Mike Carter of Sweetwater — won her first place in the Texas theme category.
"The competition at this show was phenomenal," said Baugh. She was asked to judge the Tattoo of the Day category and Baugh says the talent was amazing. "I always feel especially blessed to be able to compete with such talented artists from all over the world, so when I win something now, I want to share the glory. I've always just minded my own business while other tattoo shops have come and gone here in Sweetwater. I try to represent my little hometown proudly. I am not going anywhere."
Baugh says that she even plans to advertise her shop more. "Income tax time is nearly here and we are the only licensed tattoo shop around. Great tattoos and a clean environment are always available at the friendliest little tattoo shop in Texas."
