The Roscoe and Blackwell basketball teams came out on the losing end of their doubleheaders that were played Friday.
Roscoe’s boys, who are 1-7 in District 9-A, Division I, were defeated 45-18 by Hamlin in their game while the girls (4-5) lost 60-19 to Hamlin — ranked No. 14 in the state in Class 1A, Div. I — in their contest.
Meanwhile, Blackwell’s boys lost their District 12-A, Div. II game to Water Valley 88-29 and the Blackwell girls also lost to Water Val-ley in their contest by a score of 55-11. The Water Valley boys are currently ranked No. 3 in Class 1A, Division II and are a perfect 11-0 in district play, while Water Valley’s girls are 8-5.
Blackwell’s boys, who are winless in district play, were paced by Jayden Jones with 10 points. Mason Magness and Mark Monroe scored four points while Jordan Fields, Harrison Gott and Bennie Wester had three.
The girls (3-10 district) got three points by Stepha-nie Metcalf while Amanda Bullard, Bethany Breaux, Brooklyn Harris and Reccie Roland had two points.
The Rosoce boys were paced by Jesus Leanos with 12 points, while Keeston Ford scored four points and Cutter Davilla two against Hamlin ((4-4). The Plow-boys have two games left.
The Roscoe girls were led by Lynnsi Moses, who had 12 points, while Faith Boren scored four points, Carolina Perez two and Natalie Anthony one. The Plowgirls travel to Stamford (2-7) for their final game Tuesday and can tie Haskell (5-4) for the third and final playoff spot from District 9-A, Division I with a victory if Haskell also loses its game to Rotan.
