Sweetwater won three of its four sub-varsity games against Brownwood here on Tuesday. The JV boys won 43-28, the JV girls prevailed 53-42 in their game and the freshman boys defeated Brownwood 38-15. The freshman girls lost to Brownwood in their contest, 34-31.
The JV boys, who are now 16-10 overall and 3-4 in district, were led by Trey Taylor with 11 points. Deandre Gatson had 10, Quentin Wetsel eight, Brandon Howell seven, Mike McCoy five and Mar-quees Jenkins two.
The freshman boys held Brownwood to just eight points in the first three periods as they led 10-0, 26-5 and 37-8 at the quar-ter breaks in improving to 13-6 overall, 4-3 district.
Duanta Williams scored 14 points while J.P. Poe had eight, Rhett Torres six, Isaiah McGee five, Martes Harris four and Colton Scott one.
Shaneese Brown scored 15 points, Larissa Locklar and Claire Williams 10 and Maddie Jones and Taylor McPherson seven for the JV girls, who finished at 18-6 overall and were 6-2 in district. Kayla Chowning and Karlee Murff had two points each.
Cierra Knox scored 13 points, Bianca Castillo had eight, Lexi Castillo six and Jasmine Reddic four for the freshman girls, who finished 15-7 overall and 2-6 in district. Sweetwater led 11-6 after one quarter but trailed 23-19 at half-time and 30-26 at the end of three quarters.
