The Roscoe seventh grade boys basketball team took second place at a tourna-ment in Roscoe after split-ting two games Jan. 28.
Roscoe opened up its tournament with a 26-7 victory over Baird, but then lost to Hamlin, 31-25, in the title game. Bernardo Villa scored 12 points and Johnathan Cueller seven against Baird, while Jayce Phillips had four and Austin Willman three, and Cuellar and Phillips had eight, Villa five and Braiden Moore and Quentin Saddler two apiece against Hamlin.
The seventh grade boys then lost to Stamford 32-18 on Jan. 30 and ended their season by losing 34-22 against Munday on Feb. 6.
Willman had nine points, Juan Garcia five and Cuellar four against Stamford while against Munday, Cuellar had six points, Garcia five, Phillips and Javier Armen-ta four, Willman two and Moore one. Roscoe held a 15-12 halftime lead in the game until Munday rallied.
The Roscoe eighth grade boys team also lost its last two games.
Roscoe first lost its game against Stamford, 39-26, on Jan. 30 and then finished up its season by losing, 35-26, to Munday on Feb. 6.
Against Stamford, Ros-coe’s effort was led by Javier Leanos with 11 points while Rafael Aguayo scored six, Kevin Lavalais and Vincent Pantoja four and Brayden Beal one. Pantoja scored 10, Leanos five, Luis Villa four, Aguayo three and Beal and C.J. Adames two apiece against Munday.
Meanwhile, Roscoe’s JV boys lost to Hamlin 37-16 on Feb. 2, then lost 41-11 to Stamford on Feb. 7 and 57-16 to Munday Feb. 10.
Ray Hermosillio scored 11, Jeremy Solano three and Chase Cathey two against Hamlin; Solano scored five and Cathey, Hermosillio and Kane Peavy two against Stamford; and Solano had eight points, Hermosillio seven and Cathey one for Roscoe against Munday.
