After taking a week off, Sweetwater’s golf teams get back into action Friday with the boys going to Abilene Wylie’s one-day tournament and the girls hosting a tournament at Sweetwater Country Club that wraps up Saturday.
The girls tournament will begin Friday with tee times at 9 a.m. Sweetwater is ex-pected to have 18 players participating — three five-player teams in addition to three medalists. The top three teams and medalists will receive awards follow-ing Saturday’s conclusion of the 36-hole event.
Baird, Abilene High, Abilene Cooper, Wylie, Lev-elland, Lamesa, Clyde, Jim Ned and Big Spring are also expected to send teams.
Saturday’s golf action will begin at Sweetwater Country Club with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. Sweetwater’s teams last played Feb. 10 at Big Spring’s tournament that was shortened to one day due to bad weather.
Sweetwater’s boys shot 312 and tied with Wylie for first place only to claim the title after winning a scorecard tiebreaker, while the Sweetwater girls were a close fourth in their tourna-ment. The Lady Mustangs shot 379 and trailed Snyder, the winner, by just 13 shots. Sweetwater was also just five shots behind Wylie, which placed second.
