Sweetwater High School’s softball and baseball teams hope to get back on the win-ning track today when they play District 5-3A games at home today against Wylie.
The SHS softball team, which is 10-6 overall but 0-1 in District 5-3A after losing to Big Spring on Friday, will face Wylie at 6:30 p.m. after a JV game at 5. The baseball team — which begins district play at 7 p.m. — has lost its last two games and seen its season record drop to 6-6-1.
The Mustangs went into spring break 6-4-1 but lost to Andrews, 13-2, this past Monday at home and fell to Wall, 13-4, on the road this past Friday.
Sweetwater’s JV baseball team was scheduled to open district at Wylie on Monday, but the game was cancelled due to rainy weather. The teams have agreed to play a doubleheader April 7.
The varsity and JV play non-district games here Saturday. The varsity plays Odessa High at noon, with the JV facing Abilene High’s JV squad immediately after-ward at about 3 p.m.
After today’s contests, the softball teams will be idle until going to Brownwood on March 27 to resume dis-trict action.
