On Monday, March 26, 2012 God opened the gates of Heaven and Robert Oscar (Bob) Clark went home. He was welcomed by his mother and father and sisters and brother who had been waiting for him a long time. Bob lived in this world 91 years. He was born in Sylvester, Texas on Jan. 30, 1921, to Early Roy and Ethel Mae Clark. He was raised in Knox City and moved to Sweetwater at the age of eight years. He worked for various companies for many years. He was at M'System Grocery Store when it burned. He was at The Village Grocery when he retired in 1986. Bob was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp and served for five years during World War II. He delivered mail to General Douglas McArthur. He came home and met the love of his life and married her. They would have been married 62 years on May 20, 2012. He was a friend to everyone and knew no strangers. He was also a Christian having been baptized at the age of nine years. He was a bowler and a CB'er known as the JAYWALKER. In his later life, he picked up vehicles for Toliver Chevrolet until he retired from that. Many will remember his woodworking and his pecan shelling.
Bob went to prepare a place in Heaven for his dear wife Mary Helen. He also leaves behind his son and daughter-in-law Robert and Linda, and his son Donnie. His grandchildren include Gary Don Clark and wife Lucretia, Jennifer Serafini, Matt Clark and wife Christina, Lacey Clark and Lance Clark and fiancee Alicia Ortega. His grandkids include Korbin, Cameron, Jessalyn, Hayden and Hayleigh. His one remaining sister Mary Stone lives in Georgetown, Texas. There are numerous nieces and nephews who will also miss him greatly. He also leaves behind a very large host of friends. He was well-respected by all his in-laws and they will also miss him.
Funeral services are set for Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Ward Hayes officiating and interment at Sweetwater Cemetery. McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Matt Clark, Lance Clark, Garry Clark, Lyndon Bixler, Jamie Allred and Jared Porter.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at the funeral home.
