Roscoe will host two Cinco de Mayo events this weekend.
Roscoe Collegiate High School will be hosting its annual Cinco de Mayo celebration and scholarship dinner on Friday, May 4, at the high school. There will be a bounce house, face painting, mini Mercado, paletas, music, lotería (Spanish bingo), cakewalk and other games for all ages. Students will be presenting throughout the dinner as well.
The carnival is from 4-8 p.m. and the dinner and presentations will run from 5-7:30 p.m. There will be student work on display, door prizes, tours of the new areas and student presentations. Dinner includes Mexican Pile On, drink and dessert. Price of the dinner is $6 for adults and $4 for kids 4-10. Kids under four are free. Proceeds benefit senior scholarships.
A Cinco De Mayo celebration will take place in Downtown Roscoe from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012. A parade will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by food and booth vendors around the Downtown area including a free food booth provided by Jerry Hulcy and an information booth provided by Doug Sitter State Farm. There will also be a free street dance with Grupo Fantasia from Abilene providing the music from 6-10 p.m. For those interested in having a booth or for more information, contact Aida Pantoja at 325-721-1568.
