Katie Reve Kalmer, age 24, of Manhattan, Kansas, died Friday, May 18, 2012 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KS from cancer. Katie is the daughter of RexAnn George Kalmer formerly of Maryneal. Katie was born April 4, 1988 at Fort Riley, KS.
Katie had a passion for life that was completely infectious. Everyone that was around her could not help but share her enthusiasm. She was beautiful, witty, confident and spunky and had a contagious smile. Katie’s strength was immeasurable and uplifting. Katie had an abundance of family and friends who fueled her passion for life and in return, she touched the lives of everyone she met with her giving heart and strong spirit.
Katie is survived by her loving mother, RexAnn George Kalmer; one sister, Marla George McDaniel and husband Kyle and their two sons, Bryler and Braxton of Lubbock; one brother, Blake Kalmer of Riley, KS; grandmother, Cathy George of Maryneal; three aunts, Regina McVey and family of Maryneal, Robin Pebsworth and family of New Mexico and Nancy Welton and family of California.
Her PawPaw, Rex George of Maryneal, precedes Katie in death.
Graveside services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Decker Cemetery. The weekend prior to Katie founding out her cancer had returned, she walked as a survivor and participated in Relay for Life sponsored by The American Cancer Society. Katie was very passionate about helping others through their journey and feel in love with the American Cancer Society. At the family’s request, instead of flowers those that wish to contribute may donate to the American Cancer Society.
