Aglow International Sweetwater Community Lighthouse invites you to attend our meeting on Tuesday, June 5, at 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express, 300 SE Georgia Avenue.
Guest speaker will be Pennie Montgomery from Spring, TX.
Pennie has been a Bible study teacher and prayer group leader for many years. In 1990, she became the Texas State Prayer Coordinator for Aglow International. Since that time she has traveled over the state teaching and ministering to the women of Aglow. Pennie also serves on the Aglow Global Prayer Council.
Pennie has also ministered at various churches and teaches a weekly Bible study at Spring First Church, in Spring, TX where she and her husband, Doyle, attend. Pennie has four children and eight grandchildren. She is a certified minister of the Assemblies of God.
Being a woman of prayer, Pennie believes that prayer is the foundation for all that is going on in the world and the Body of Christ. It is her desire to see women and men healed body, soul and spirit and for people to know Jesus Christ in a real way. Everyone is welcome to come. For more information, call 338-8924
Broadway Baptist Church
I read about some children in a Sunday school class who wrote letters to a missionary to let him know they were praying for him. The teacher of the class said, “Now, children, the missionary is a very busy person, so don’t expect him to write you back.” One little girl’s letter read, “Dear Brother Brown, we’re praying for you. We don’t expect an answer.”
This reminds me of the story in Acts 12 where Peter had been imprisoned by Herod and the church gathered for a special prayer meeting. Verse 5 says: “...but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.” God sent an angel, delivered him and he went to the house of Mary where they were praying. Peter knocked on the door and Rhoda heard his voice and ran to tell the others. They said she was crazy, because Peter was in prison. Finally, because Peter continued knocking, they opened the door and were “astonished”.
Are you astonished when God answers your prayers? You shouldn’t be. He said, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee.” He promised that if we ask, believing, we shall receive.
God loves to hear us pray, desires to answer our prayers and wants to show Himself strong on our behalf. In the midst of your good days and bad, remember the promise of God found in Psalm 91:15 says, “He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.”

FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
Sweetwater First United Methodist Church wants to invite you to join us on Sunday mornings to worship and praise our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The United Methodist Church is open to all persons and is a place where all are welcome and encouraged to “come as you are” with the expectation that by the grace of God you will leave different. The change that a relationship with Christ brings about is a life-changing encounter and we believe that while God accepts us as we are He loves us enough not to leave us in our sins. We believe that Scripture informs all aspects of our lives and should be our rule and authority.
The first service begins at 8:45 a.m. and is built around a traditional model with great hymns of the church. This service uses a more liturgical framework and often employs a wonderful choir.
Immediately following the first service we have Sunday School classes for all ages and stages of life. We invite you to try one of our many opportunities to come together and seek God in small groups that emphasize God’s Word and proclaim His glory.
At 10:50 a.m. we have a second worship service that has a decidedly contemporary flavor and incorporates more of progressive style and pace. This second service also has a children’s time and “Children’s Church” for kids in preschool through second grade.
Sweetwater FUMC also has youth activities on Sundays beginning at 6:30 p.m. Every Tuesday and Wednesday FUMC hosts the Gaylord’s Pantry and a clothes closet is available on Tuesdays. Both of those ministries operate from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Please enter through the North (4th street) entrance if you would like to receive God’s blessing through either of these ministries.
News this week: Our text this Sunday is from Isaiah 6:1-8. We will be looking at the ways in which an awesome all-powerful God uses a frail humanity to accomplish his purposes.
Wednesday at 10 am — Men’s and women’s combined Bible study.
Fun activities are offered at different times during the month for fourth through sixth graders (Club 456) and first through third graders (UMKids).

WORD OF GOD
Just a shout out for God. We want to thank our Lord for His favor and divine blessings. He has blessed us with a beautiful bus for His youth ministries. If you haven't seen it, you probably will. We will be using it for picking up the children and teens for Wednesday night youth church and Sundays. It will also be a traveling bus for our teens going to camp. Our youth ministries, T.A.G. teen, Tween 11 and 12 year-olds, and S.l.u.g.g. children, is growing larger all the time. We were in need of a bigger transporter vehicle. We are thankful to God for the growth of our youth. We are running anywhere from 60 to 80 youth nearly every Wednesday. The youth love this church and are learning so much about Jesus and our personal relationship with our Father. They are excited about all we have in store for them in the summer. Bring your youth to the successful youth ministry of the Word of God Church.
We would also like to thank God for His success in Juarez, Mexico. Not only is God using the church to build a church in Juarez, but we ordained our first minister in Juarez to lead the ministry over there. Many are coming to Christ and the youth are being reached with a ministry for them. Same principles that the Word of God church applies. They to are having success with the children.
We would also like to thank God for the help, sponsorship and fundraising that has blessed the youth in this ministry to go to camp. Brookshire’s, Autozone, Pizza Hut and Wal-Mart, thank you for your space, time, contributions and hospitality. We also want to thank the many sponsors through donations and getting cars washed or buying bake goods. You have all been helpful in sending the youth to camp. We will be sending around 45 to camp this year, at no expense for the parent, kids or church. Praise God!
Once again thank you God for your blessings and favor.
We will have a co-ed softball tournament fundraiser June 9, at the youth baseball fields in the park. Hope to see you.
