BROADWAY BAPTIST CHURCH
I once read a sign that said, “Smile, it makes people wonder what you’ve been up to.” Many years ago, as a youth pastor, I would sing the song: “If you’re Happy Notify Your Face!” Christians should be the happiest people on earth, even in the midst of all the things going on around. Unfortunately, we look like we were baptized in pickle juice and spent our life sucking on lemons. We seem to have lost the note of joy. Man has intelligence, will and emotion and when we experience the grace of God, it will affect all three. My father used to sing, “If you can sing, when it seems there is nothing to sing about, then I’ll know that you know my Savior.” Paul and Silas sang in prison. Paul wrote while in jail: “Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice.”
When things aren’t going your way, troubles surround you, and it seems your world is closing in on you, remember God’s promise that the Joy of the Lord is your strength. He wants you to know that joy really comes in the morning. Since we know these truths, let’s smile so that people will know that the Lord is up to something!
This coming Wednesday night, the 13th, Broadway Baptist Church is in for a special treat at 7 p.m. in the auditorium, and we as a church would like to invite you to come and enjoy the Gospel Music of the Hinkle Family. This family travels across the country ministering through song in churches and in nursing homes. Come and enjoy their unique Gospel music sound. You will be blessed.
It is time for church camp. If you would like for your child or teen to go to church camp, please let us know by calling 235-2730. Junior High Camp is June 11-15. Senior High Camp is July 9-13, and Junior Camp is July 23-26.
If you don’t have a church home, we would love for you to come and visit us this Sunday. Our Life Groups, which is for all ages, starts at 10 a.m. Our morning service is at 10:50 a.m. and our evening service begins at 6 p.m. Come and let us be a blessing to you as we worship the Lord together.
FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH

In addition, the summer of 2012 will be full of family-fun activities that can start new friendships and solidify existing ones. 1). Opportunities such as P3 activities are scheduled for July 9-12 and August 6-9 where we reach out to families within our community; 2). The church-wide picnic; and 3). Remember to pray for our high school students as they travel to Estes Park, Colorado (June 10-15), grow spiritually in heart and mind and make life-long friendships with various members of their youth group.
Mark you calendar (July 22) beginning at 6 p.m. in the FBC Sanctuary, when the Ugandan Children's Choir will sing in both English and their native language (Luganda), play instruments, including African drums and dance traditional dances in colorful costumes. The education those attending will receive will be invaluable in widening appreciation for the needs of orphans in third-world countries, as well as demonstrating God's powerful hand at work in their lives. During the current summer of 2012, FBC is committed to loving the world around us by reaching out to families in our neighborhoods and community. Come join with us!
