Shirley Faye Pendergrass, 69, of Port Arthur, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, at Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Port Arthur. She was born June 2, 1943, to Helen Tait Fullwood and Wilson Fullwood, in Sweetwater, Texas. Shirley graduated from Sweetwater High School and moved to Port Arthur in 1963. She worked for Best Plumbing as a bookkeeper for over 10 years and after that worked alongside her husband at their automotive repair shop, H & B Automotive, from 1988 until 2008, when it closed. Shirley enjoyed bowling, fishing, gambling and spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered by several as a positive maternal influence.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Cindy Orr and her husband, David, of Port Neches and Beverly Crowder and her husband, Mark, of Port Acres; permanent fiancé, Ronnie Ayala of Port Arthur and his daughters, Ashley Ayala and Chrystie Quintero; grandchildren, Dustin Holmes and his wife, Candace, Dylan Holmes, Damian Orr, Andrea Hunsucker Lamar and her husband, Joseph, Delani Crowder, Cassie Crowder and Mack Crowder and his wife, Danyel; great-grandsons, Cade Crowder, Alden Hunsucker and Gabriel Quintero; brothers, James Fullwood of Roscoe and Charles Fullwood and his wife, Kim, of Clifton, Virginia; sister, Myrl Frazier of Sweetwater; and close family friends, The Wuenschel and Chambers families.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hoyt Pendergrass; and sister, Marjorie Ann Tollison; and son-in-law, Dane Holmes.
A gathering of Shirley’s family and friends will be from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
