According to Sweetwater Chief of Police Brian Frieda, a man has been identified as a suspect in the shooting that took place at Apple Creek Apartments on Grand Avenue in Sweetwater earlier this month. "We have not been successful in locating this individual. Through the course of The Sweetwater Police Department's investigation, we were able to determine that there was in fact only one shooter in this incident and he has been identified as Miguel Angel Fierro. We are seeking the assistance of citizens, and if they know the whereabouts of Fierro, we would request that they contact their local law enforcement agency and allow them to locate and arrest the individual."
Fierro is considered armed and extremely dangerous. His date of birth is Dec. 11, 1987. He is approximately 5'8'' and weighs about 180 pounds. A warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon has been issued for Fierro. Around 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, the Sweetwater Police Department received a call about shots fired at Apple Creek Apartments on Grand Avenue in Sweetwater.
Two people were shot, one 24-year-old male was shot in the lower right abdomen and one 40-year-old male was shot in the right knee. One patient was transported by Sweetwater Emergency Services to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital from the scene and one was found quite a bit later and was also transported to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital. The victim with the gunshot would to the abdomen underwent surgery to remove the material from the wound. The victim with the gunshot wound to the knee was treated and released from the hospital. Both gunshot wounds were considered non-life-threatening.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene in an unknown direction that night.
