After suffering its first defeat one week earlier, Sweetwater’s JV football team (4-1) got back in the win column this past week with a 38-13 victory over Brownwood at Mustang Bowl.
Quarterback Hayden Reeves had a hand in four touchdowns. He was 21-of-26 passing for 275 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 60 yards including a 27-yard TD. Reeves threw scoring passes of 13 and 11 yards to Deandre Gatson (6 catches, 87 yards) and 4 yards to Kris Duran. The latter also scored on an 81-yard punt return, and Mark McCann scored on a 4-yard run. James Clift also finished with six catches for 80 yards.
Sean Norman had an interception on defense.
“I thought the kids did a tremendous job of bouncing back from last week’s loss,” coach Jake Freeman said.
“We had a great week of practice and the kids performed well. The of-fense executed well and we scored on special teams. We will be tough to beat if we keep playing like we did.”
