A couple of appointments were approved at the Nolan County Commissioners' meeting on Monday morning, October 8, 2012.
Dr. Tim Jones was approved to be the new medical authority for Nolan County, while Shane Dent will be replacing Julie McLemore on the Nolan County Coliseum Board.
In addition, several dates were also approved by the commissioners at the meeting, such as the proclamation for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Day for 2012. Following last year's schedule, October 1st was declared as Nolan County Breast Cancer Awareness Day, while the entire month of October stands as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Approval was also given to set the date and place for the 2012-2013 commissioners' court meetings for the second and fourth Mondays at 9 a.m. in the Nolan County Courtroom on the first floor of the courthouse. The 2013 holiday schedule for Nolan County, which was given to the commissioners prior to the meeting, was approved as well.
Furthermore, approval was given on a court order to allow the County Auditor to pay all payroll items and any other operation items listed on order as necessary between court dates, a procedure which has been followed for some time.
And with the commissioners citing green and wet conditions in their precincts, the burn ban for the county was approved to remain lifted until the next appointed court meeting date.
The minutes of the September 24 meeting were additionally approved, while reports from the Nolan County Treasurer, Clerk and Auditor were received.
However, discussion and consideration of a contract with Turner Construction's manager at risk was tabled, which dealt with the remediation of the courthouse façade and any new building projects contingent on the passage of the proposals placed on the November 6, 2012 ballot. Nonetheless, this action item is expected to appear on the agenda for the next regular meeting.
