Big Spring 14, 7th grade White 8
Noah Martinez caught a 40-yard scoring pass from Kurt Wetsel and Alexander Kittley added the two-point run for Sweetwater White’s only points.
Texas Williams was also an offensive standout while Jeremiah DeLeon, Christo-pher Reed, Reese Dahl, Zachary Winslett and Garret Ehlert were standouts on the defensive side.
7th grade Red 30, Big Spring 8
Michael Green was on the receiving end of three TD passes from Chris Thomp-son of 50, 20 and 50 yards as Sweewater Red (6-0) de-feated Big Spring. Kiante McCoy scored on a 1-yard TD run, while Thompson had two PAT runs and Dan-iel Avila one. Thomas Mes-ta and Jonathan Castillo were also offensive stand-outs while Green (intercep-tion), McCoy, Kobe Clark, Isak Alvarez, Trenton Hicks, Taylor Turney and Andrew Melendez were defensive standouts for Sweetwater.
“We started out rough, but got it together and made the adjustments needed to put points up on the board,” said SMS coordinator Tony Cortez. “There were a lot of great efforts.”
Big Spring 16, 8th grade White 12
Michael Garcia had an 85-yard kickoff return and Gabriel Salazar added a 95-yard kick return to give Sweetwater White a 12-0 lead in the first quarter until Big Spring rallied. Other offensive standouts were Zacharie Vera, John Clift and Christopher Gonzalez. Tyler Rea, Nicholas Castil-lo, Thomas Browning, Jac-ob Greenwood and Garrett Davison were standouts on defense for Sweetwater.
Big Spring 42, 8th grade Red 20
Kickoff returns provided two of the three touchdowns for Sweetwater Red. In the first quarter, Jordan McGee scored on an 85-yard return and later Hunter Mobley had a 75-yard return in the third quarter, with McGee also scoring on a 10-yard run in the period and Jacoby Hunt adding a PAT run for the Colts.
Mathew Figueroa, Tate Rainey, Carlos Gallegos and Dylan Ausborn were defen-sive standouts.
“This was a very tough and physical game with a lot of hitting going on. We played with great intensity and aggression,” said Cort-ez. “We saw lots of things to build on for Monahans.”
