Fredericksburg — Doris Lynn Brown Turner, 90, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 27, in a local nursing home. She was born on April 11, 1922, in Scranton, Texas, to Maggie Mae Bailey Brown and Ernest R. Brown and grew up in Colorado City. She married Veltie E. Turner on Jan. 3, 1941, in Colorado City and they raised four children in Roscoe.
Family visitation will be held at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater on Nov. 30, from 1-2 p.m. and graveside service immediately following in the Roscoe Cemetery with the Rev. Phillip Thomas officiating, under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home
She was preceded in death by her husband, Veltie Turner in 1988; and son, Ronny E. Turner in 2003.
She is survived by daughter, Janilyn Turner Thompson and husband, Jim of Petersburg, TX; daughter, Sally Turner of San Angelo; son, Brene Turner and wife, Leah Ann of Spring, Texas; six grandchildren, Tiersa Turner of Eugene, Ore., Tamara Turner of Boston, Mass., Sydne Walker Williams of Lavaca, Ark., Bree Walker of Lubbock, Telby Turner of Sugarland and Teila Turner Hejl of Plantersville; 10 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Jo Ella Turner of Ft. Collins, Colo.; sister, Ona Mae Harris; and brother, John D. Brown, both of Colorado City.
