The Roscoe and Highland girls tipped off District 13-A, Division II basketball play with lopsided victories on the road Friday.
Roscoe routed Hermleigh 75-34, while Highland was a 53-21 winner at Westbrook. Roscoe and Highland share the early district lead with Ira, which beat Loraine 63-41 in its opener.
The 75 points was the highest output of the season for the Plowgirls (12-8), whose 41-point victory just missed equalling a season-best margin. Individually, Roscoe got scoring from nine different players.
Faith Boren had 20 points and Eva Aguayo 13 to pace Roscoe, while Shelby Brown and Kendall Moses each had nine and Mirian Solis eight.
Also scoring points were Carolina Perez with six, Whitney Williams with four and Torrey Willman and Stina Tomlin with three.
Highland started quickly against Westbrook, leading 22-5 after one quarter before cruising to the win.
Sierra Allen poured in 20 points to pace Highland. Also scoring were Sydny Helbert with 10, Schyler Kimbrell with eight, Hannah Allen with six, Madison Moseley with four, Beth Richburg and Lora Stewart with two and Morgan Monroe with one point.
Highland’s boys, mean-while, routed Paint Creek 65-17 Friday in a non-dist-rict game. Laramie Thomp-son had 11 points while Kevin Box, Jacob Richburg and Brandon Stevens had eight points, Ethan Wilson seven, Ron Covington five, Zack Cornett, Seth Wood, Eli Shelton and Kaden Nachlinger four points and Emrick Wilson two.
The Blackwell girls and boys were also in action, hosting District 14-A, Div. II games with Robert Lee.
The boys (1-2) lost 53-20 while the girls (0-5) also lost to Robert Lee, 65-29.
Ethan Andrews scored seven points, Wade Allen six, Jayden Jones five and Franck Cano two in their game. For the Blackwell girls, Hailey Bennett led the way with 12 points while Stephanie Metcalf had 10, Brooklyn Harris three and Rodriguez and Elizabeth Rozzle two.
