Sweetwater’s Lady Mustangs resume play with an early district showdown at home against Greenwood at 7:30 today in the main high school gym after winning their opener at Big Spring. The freshman girls will play at 5 p.m. and the Junior Varsity girls will play at 6:30 p.m., both games at Sweetwater Middle School.
Sweetwater and Greenwood are two of three 1-0 teams in District 4-3A along with Wylie, which plays at Monahans today.
Senior Kendra Crosson had 12 points, including a three-point play for the winning margin in a 35-33 victory at Big Spring on Friday. Today’s contest begins a two-game homestand as the Lady Mustangs, who are 15-9 overall, host Monahans this Friday.
Sweetwater’s boys go to San Angelo Lake View seeking their seventh straight win to end non-district action. Sweetwater defeated Coahoma 66-37 Thursday at home to improve its record to 10-7, while equalling the Mustangs’ entire win total for the 2011-12 season. Today’s game will tip off at 8 p.m.
In District 13-A, Div. II, the Roscoe and Highland girls, both 1-0, host Westbrook and Ira, respectively after winning their openers.
The Plowgirls and Lady Hornets are currently tied for the early district lead with Ira. Roscoe beat Hermleigh 75-34 on Friday while Highland defeated Westbrook, 53-21, in its opener.
